Liurnia of the Lakes is one of the most expansive and visually stunning regions in Elden Ring, serving as a critical stepping stone after completing Limgrave. Covered in thick fog, shallow waters, and surrounded by steep cliffs, navigating this flooded wetlands region requires careful mapping to avoid dangerous hazards. Finding the region's map fragments early is essential for unveiling crucial roads, sites of grace, and hidden settlements across the vast terrain.
Finding the Map Fragments in Liurnia
Liurnia is divided into three distinct map regions: Liurnia East, Liurnia North, and Liurnia West. Players can acquire the East map fragment near the Academy Gate Town ruins shortly after entering the region. The North and West fragments are located further up the lake, positioned near prominent obelisks along the main travel paths.
Exploring the Academy of Raya Lucaria
Dominating the center of the region, the Academy of Raya Lucaria is a massive legacy dungeon filled with sorcerers and magical threats. Entering the academy requires obtaining a Academy Glintstone Key, which is guarded by a sleeping dragon in the western waters. Once inside, players will encounter multi-level structures, secret passages, and challenging encounters that test spellcasting and melee skills alike.
Uncovering Key Locations and Side Quests
Beyond the academy, Liurnia contains numerous points of interest including Caria Manor to the north and the Village of the Albinaurics to the southwest. Exploring these landmarks unlocks important character quests, unique weapon upgrades, and powerful sorceries. Navigating the cliffs along the outer edges reveals hidden caves and catacombs rich with valuable crafting resources.
Tips for Efficient Lake Exploration
Traveling on horseback using Torrent is highly recommended when traversing the deep waters and vast swamps of Liurnia. Players should keep an eye out for spirit springs to quickly ascend the towering rock formations lining the lake's perimeter. Clearing out local camps and activating sites of grace ensures safe fast-travel points across this huge region.
